Import Regulatory Changes
Updated June 1, 2026
For the foreseeable future, order processing and shipping times to the United States may vary due to on-going changes with the US Administration. This includes everything from documentation requirements to new import fee regulations or rate changes. We apologize in the event that your order is delayed. At this time, we continue to navigate a changing, and challenging, environment.
Background:
In August 2025, the U.S. government began charging a tariff for all products being brought into the United States, including your prescriptions. This tariff – basically a tax – was imposed under the authority of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). It was collected prior to shipment by the postal service, courier, customs broker or a qualified party approved by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The tariff was immediately paid to CBP, and they now hold the money.
While a different U.S. law is now requiring that tariffs continue to be collected, refunds for payments made under IEEPA from September 2025 through February 2026 may now be available for refund…with several strict limitations.
We have spoken to our postal services and the customs payment facilitator that collected the tariffs and paid them to CBP. They have confirmed that only CBP can process refunds, and only under the following conditions. Refunds may only be requested by you as the “importer of record”, provided you are a) in the U.S., (b) have a U.S. bank account, and (c) submit your claim to CBP using the new process it has established.
Unfortunately, under these U.S. government-imposed parameters, we have no way to contact CBP on your behalf. However, should you choose to pursue this directly, please go to the CBP website listed below for more information on the refund process and related logistics: https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/USDHSCBP/bulletins/4126a9c?reqfrom=share
Service Update Regarding De Minimis Removal, Import Duty Rate Changes – February, 2026
Providing you with quality prescriptions at the best possible prices remains our number one objective. With the upcoming changes to U.S. import legislation taking effect February 24, 2026, we would like to update you on the current state of affairs;
We currently contract with seven licensed dispensaries in five different countries. Each dispensary is currently operational and in compliance with the latest regulations. While this can change in a moments notice, we will exhaust every effort to give you the best possible options for your medication needs
All partner dispensaries are currently in compliance with new customs declaration and prepayment procedures. Effective February 24, 2026, import duties and fees have changed – and we anticipate that they will continue to change over time. You will be quoted the most accurate and up to date import fees at the time of which you place your order. Duties and import fees must be prepaid. Please note that import fees are non-refundable per the third-party clearance company – this include cases where packages are undeliverable.
You can expect an administration fee on a per-order basis. These administrative costs are to cover the costs of clearing your package for acceptance/delivery. We will continue to work with our partners to minimize these costs and will adjust pricing when possible.
Delivery timelines are more difficult to predict. While we will continue to ship orders as quickly as possible, additional customs processing may extend delivery times beyond the usual four-week window. If you require your medication urgently, we recommend placing orders early or filling at a local pharmacy to avoid any interruption in your regimen. We estimate that shipping will take between four to six weeks.
Our Contact Center is experiencing higher-than-usual call volumes as customers inquire about the new rules. Hold times may be longer, but our team is working hard to assist everyone as quickly as possible. We encourage you to use our online self-service options whenever possible. Our processing times will vary.
We are suspending our price matching policy until further notice.
Reshipments will be processed on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to additional costs.
Upcoming Changes – July 31, 2026
Effective July 31, 2026, the U.S. will be imposing up to a 100% tariff on certain imported, patented brand-name drugs and ingredients. While these tariffs will range between 10% - 100%, it is expected to be limited to brand name medications only. The tariff rate will be based on multiple factors such as country-specific trade deals and commitments from certain manufacturers to invest in American-domiciled production.
In short, this will result in a variable tariff rate determined by the drug manufacturer and/or the country where the product is currently manufactured.
At this time, our understanding is generic medications are intended to be exempt from further tariffs. This is fluid situation that continues to evolve with limited information currently available.
What You Need To Know
CanadianPharmacyStore.com continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates when available on our website.
If you currently purchase brand-name medications, we encourage you to order your branded medications early – and to consider ordering a second supply in advance of the July 31 deadline.
If you currently purchase generic medications, we would also encourage at least one fill before the July 31 deadline to cover any potential disruptions.
Shipping Disruption
We do not anticipate any shipping disruptions. However, we are waiting for new guidelines to be provided by the US Administration to ensure accurate product declarations.
While it is expected that the current environment will continue to evolve and change, we will continue to post updates as necessary.
We remain committed to providing you with safe, affordable medications and will continue to monitor the situation closely, providing updates as they become available.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and trust in us.
